More about Mrs Durrell

Her Story

Mrs Durrell is an 8 year old miniature Mediterranean donkey. She lives her live on a farm in West Berkshire, with her daughter Margot. Mrs Durrell was born in the New Forest and was bought as a gift for her now owner Carol who had always dreamed of owning donkeys. 

Carols family run a wedding venue and when eldest daughter Becky got married, the idea was sprung to see if Mrs Durrell could play a part in the wedding. Mrs Durrell had always had the most amazing nature and it was decided that some baskets would be made and we would see if she would enjoy this new role.  

Well..... Mrs Durrell of course took to it like a duck to water and was the utter star of the show! So, it was decided to see if she wanted to join the weddings team at Hillfields Farm and she has never looked back since - providing her services to many weddings over the years and delighting hundreds of guests ever since.

Mrs Durrell's welfare is our highest priority and she enjoys a lovely life grazing fields when she's not at work. She lives with Margot and her two alpaca friends, 'Patsy' & 'Eddie'. She is always highly rewarded with carrots when on the job so she drags us in when she sees the baskets come out!
